Micah first met Peter when she went to purchase a car. He was the handsome salesman who had caught her eye. Peter was mesmerized by the petite beauty and couldn’t stop himself from flirting. This was the beginning, and the rest, as you can say, is history. Their relationship grew as they fell in love with one another. Their plans started to involve their shared love of travel, taking them to exotic locations like Santorini, Greece. Like any young couple in love, they began making plans for the future, believing that they had all the time in the world.
Their world got turned upside down on January 1st, 2017. Micah, only 25 years of age, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. She immediately began receiving treatment and had surgery, but the results weren’t favorable. It wasn’t the life they had planned, but it was the one they had been handed. Peter has stuck by Micah’s side as she has continued to deal with the cancer, supporting her through her treatments and various doctors’ appointments. Despite their prayers, they soon learned that the cancer has spread and Micah’s days were numbered. What would normally tear most couples apart has brought the two of them even closer together.
In mid-March Peter proposed, wanting to commit himself to the love of his life in the days they had left together. Micah said yes!
Wishing Well Wedding and Event Foundation learned of their story and through the assistance of some amazing Calgary wedding vendors, managed to help pull Micah and Peter’s dream wedding together in a little over a week. Continue below to see some of the special moments from their magical day!
Micah is a beautiful soul – inside and out! It didn’t take long for our hair and make-up team time to come in and work their magic, transforming her from beautiful into an absolutely radiant bride. Hair Creative By David Roberts and Glam N Go – Jenna Nicole made sure she looked her absolute best, giving her the red carpet treatment that every bride deserves.
Micah made for such a beautiful bride. Being so petite, it was not going to be easy to find a wedding gown off the rack. Instead, she ended up wearing the same dress that her mom wore for a renewal of vows ceremony a few years back. We can’t think of anything more perfect with such emotional ties. She looked amazing!
We love watching fathers see their daughters for the first time as a bride. It’s an incredible moment that many fathers dream about, and this time was no exception!
Transportation to the church was provided by Ambassador Limousine Service.
The ceremony was held at Brentview Baptist Church with Dr. Dave Spate officiating. Occasional Notes provided music throughout the ceremony. The words spoken were sincere, and in the moment. Most couples when they say their vows envision a future with them growing old together. Micah’s illness made the situation much more real for both of them. As a result, their vows were from the heart and held so much more meaning. They celebrate their commitment to one another and cherish the time they have left together with an understanding and appreciation for life that few people can truly understand.
We want to acknowledge the ladies at Durand Bridal who helped make sure Micah’s bridesmaids looked their best.
After the ceremony, guests returned to Micah’s family home for the reception. Red Events, Chair Flair, and Gathered Table Supply Co. worked together to create an inviting space for guests to enjoy a wonderful luncheon catered by Rob from Red Seal Dining. Surrounded by those that love them the most, it was a wonderful and intimate celebration.
Pretty Sweet designed this beautiful two-tiered cake with a marbleized and flecks of edible 23K gold.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away!” – Maya Angelou
On behalf of Wishing Well Wedding and Event Foundation, we wish Micah and Peter blessings and happiness as they begin this next chapter of their lives together.
Micah and Peter’s wedding day would not have happened without an incredible team of Calgary wedding vendors. Thank you to each and every one of the vendors for their support and participation!
